Some months ago, I was playing some Snow White music to some children under my care.
The children started following along to the music, using different toys (hammer, golf stick, drum stick) to walk one by one like the 7 dwaves.
Hayden, a boy who was only 10 months old at the time, picked up a home-made "music roll" made of cardboard onto his shoulder and with a smile, also moved his body to the music rhythm.
After that day, every time we played the same Snow White music, he would repeat this action.
From this play Hayden became interested in all types of music, even as he began to learn to walk. Not only would he point his "music roll" at the radio every time, but he shared the "music roll" with his friends, and invited them play together with the music.
Hayden also started paying more attention to different music types, even classic music. Once we were playing some classical violin music, Hayden started walking very slowly at the beginning, then following the increasing pace of the music he began walking faster and also yelled with excitement.
Music has stimulated Hayden's emotional and cognitive development or is Hayden a special child who is especially sensitive to music?
